Maybe because I saw how the audience was reacting so in my head I started adjusting my speech for them to understand instead of them thinking of me rambling in front of class. Some reason I slowed down A LOT on my final speech. When practicing my speech I hurried through a lot of it and at most hit 4-5 minutes every time. The only thing I regret about my speech is that I ran out of time. I looked around and made sure I saw everyone's pretty face. My eye contact was a lot better in this speech. I still move around a little bit that was to help ease SOME of the tension that may have been risen from the speech. Overall, I stopped myself from using a lot of fillers.

This subject is rather touchy with me because of all the happenings that happened following it and the controversy that led up to it and the after-effect.

I was taken away that most didn't know that was New York City back when the World Trade Centers were still standing but it seemed as if every knew the picture of the buildings being attacked. At first I didn't know how the audience was going to react to the pictures of September 11th because the class is relatively young and may not exactly remember it. I like the class in the semi-circle rather than in the organized fashion we had before. Offer constructive feedback and avoid being rude or insulting.After reviewing the video of my persuasive speech I found that I was a lot more comfortable in front of the class. The latter is the most often used but provides little benefit to help speakers grow. Here are a few tips to follow for the rehearsal and critique: They are only as effective as the evaluator's capability and honesty in sharing what they experience during your rehearsal. They offer suggestions on what to listen for and observe in the audible and visual components of your performance. These guidelines are for an evaluator to analyze your elevator speech for content and delivery.

Whomever you select as your critique partner, trust that they have your best interests at heart. Why? Because I know that they have my best interests at heart. I can say with confidence that they are a blessing to me and I wouldn't be where I am today without them. They bring certain skills to the table that encourage me to improve in different ways. My wife and daughter are wonderful critique partners. Keep this in mind if you are evaluating someone else's elevator speech. In Toastmasters, we learn to evaluate any speech using the sandwich method of compliment-criticsm-compliment. It is important to understand why they respond in a certain way and adjust your delivery to eliminate negative perceptions. The evaluator's reaction to your speech may be largely positive, negative or a combination of the two. In general, a critique analyzes, interprets and evaluates your elevator speech, answering the questions how? why? and how well? A critique is not necessarily to criticize your pitch in a negative sense. This time I underlined 'Ask someone to critique you' to emphasize the importance of obtaining someone's input to help you perfect the most important 60-second speech you'll ever present. When given appropriately, it means that someone cares enough about us that they want to help us get better at something.
